Houghton Lake continues to be a great place to walleye fish.

Friday (6/26): Fished the North side of the lake in 6 to 7 FOW and boated 14 keeper walleyes and two undersized fish. Trolled with TD 5 tail dancers Blue / White back 55 foot and Berkley frenzy black and gold 25 foot back all at 2.25mph.

Monday (6/29): We went out to test the cold front and the high winds and ended up boating 10 keeper walleye and three undersized fish. The best action was from 8:00pm on trolling with the wind (no motor) at 1.9 to 2.4 mph.

Good luck.

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 6/23

Walleye fishing continues to be excellent on Houghton. We fished the Northwest end of the lake on Tuesday evening and ended up with a two man limit in three hours.

The weather is finally warming up and now that the water temperature is increasing we are speeding up our troll a bit and working 7 FOW. Trolled with TD 5 blue and white tail dancers, white storms, and gold / black Berkley’s at 2.35mph.

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 6/20

Fished Houghton Lake on Saturday evening in 7 FOW and ended up catching four keeper walleyes in the first thirty minutes of our trip. The fishing action was great until the wind died off and the floating chopped weeds made it impossible to troll.

We'll be back out during the week to try and find some bigger fish.

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 6/10 - 6/14

Last weeks walleye fishing on Houghton Lake was excellent. We made it out several times last week and despite the massive mayfly hatches and all of the issues removing larva and chopped weeds from our lines we caught a lot of walleyes.

Wednesday (6-10): Fished in 6 FOW on the West end of the lake and caught eight keepers best on 22-inches and eleven undersized fish. Best bite was on black and silver Berkley Frenzies fished 25 foot back.

Thursday (6-11): Keith and Justin fished the South point in 5 to 6 FOW and boated five keepers and sixteen undersized fish in three hours. Best bite was on black and white TD 7 tail dancers 40 foot back 2.10 mph.

Friday (6-12): Fished the West end of the lake and boated ten keepers and three undersized fish trolling blue / white TD 5 tail dancers 55 foot back and Berkeley Frenzies 25 foot back. The mayfly hatch made trolling difficult, but it didn’t stop the walleye bite. Best fishing was from 9:30pm to 10:30pm.

Sunday (6-14): Fished the West end of the lake in 6 FOW and boated five keeper walleyes from 7:15am to 8:00am, then fishing shutdown. All fish were caught on blue / silver / red storm thunderstick Jrs. Trolled 19 foot back.

Houghton Lake 6-5-09

Fished Houghton Lake on Friday (6-5) and had a great time. The fish were very active out in 6 FOW. We trolled with blue / silver TD 7 tail dancers back 45 foot, Storm Jr black and gold back 18 foot and black and silver Berkley Frenzies 26 foot back all at 2.3 to 2.45 mph. The Mayfly’s were really out, but it didn’t seem to bother the walleye bit. Overall our boat picked up 7 keepers and 8 undersized fish and our other boat got a two man limit with seven undersized fish.
