Houghton Lake Walleye Report 5-12-09

Fishing team members made it out on Tuesday (5-12) to do some exploring in hopes of finding some new fishing areas. They didn't come up with many fish in deeper water during the day and ended up headed back in shallow for the evening fish. Overall they caught eight keeper walleyes and seven undersized fish. Fishing action was the best from 9:00pm - 10:5pm trolling in 6.5 FOW at 2.1 mph with white bombers and thunderstick Jrs.

Good Luck....

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 5-8-09

Fished Houghton Lake on Friday evening after work and boated three keeper walleyes and five undersized fish. Started out fishing in 6 FOW on the South shore, but soon realized that the bite was slow when we didn't even boat a pike on of first troll pass. After fishing shallow for an hour we headed out into 9 FOW and found a much more active school of fish. The best color during the daylight ended up being purple / white.

Didn't fish Houghton over the weekend, but will be back out one more time this week before we head up to Curtis for a week of walleye fishing. Good Luck....

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 5-5-09

Fished the South shore on Tuesday (5-5) and boated eight keeper walleyes, five undersized, and lost three at the boat. We caught two walleyes at 8:30pm and all of the rest of the fish from 9:30pm to 10:15pm.

We scouted the West shore for two hours and didn't find any walleye or pike.

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 5-2-09

Houghton Lake walleye action continues to be hot on the south shore. We made it out fishing on Friday (5-1) and Saturday (5-2) and boated nine keeper walleyes on each evening. The pike action will keep you very busy and most fishermen I talk to get overwhelmed by it. Walleye action has been the best for us from 8:00pm till about 10:00pm using white colored Bombers and Storm Jr. Thundersticks.

Houghton Lake Walleye Report 5-1-09

Friday we fished the South shore in 6 to 7 FOW and ended up boating nine walleyes and a ton of small pike in the mix. The walleyes held tight to the bottom all evening which made us change up our normal trolling setup. We rigged up deep diving Thundersticks and ran them just off of the bottom which ended up getting the walleye bite going.

Planning on fishing the north side of the lake this evening.
